Just a reminder that the Reportable Conduct Scheme—part of Queensland’s new child safeguarding law, the Child Safe Organisations Act—commences on 1 July 2026.
The Scheme requires organisations to report and investigate allegations of child abuse and misconduct by their workers. It plays an important role in building a culture where children, parents, carers and workers feel confident to raise concerns about harm to children.
Is your organisation in scope?
To determine whether your organisation is within scope of the Scheme, you should consider whether:
- your organisation cares for, supervises or exercises authority over children; and
- your organisation provides camps or excursions that include overnight stays as part of its primary functions.
If your organisation—or any of your affiliate organisations—provides camps or excursions with overnight stays for children as part of its primary functions, it will be classified as a ‘reporting entity’ and must comply with the Scheme from 1 July 2026.
