Queensland Sport Strategy 2025

AQIA brings you all the news that matters to our industry.

Queensland Sport Strategy 2025

Let’s shape the next decade of sport in Queensland to ensure the state becomes Australia’s sporting powerhouse — not just in 2032, but for generations to come.

What does 2032 mean for you?

Queensland is on the cusp of an extraordinary opportunity.

Hosting the Brisbane 2032 Olympic and Paralympic Games provides us with not only an opportunity to deliver an exceptional sporting event but also to build a lasting legacy that cements our state as the undeniable home of Australian sport. To support this, we have launched a discussion paper ‘What does 2032 mean for you?’, to help inform the development of Queensland’s new Sport Strategy and we want your ideas.

We want to build on our successes and hear how we can support all Queenslanders to have the confidence and knowledge to be active at all stages in life, and to make sport more inclusive and accessible.

We’re inviting individuals, clubs, communities and the sport industry to have their say on how we can:

  • help more Queenslanders be active, no matter their background, ability or location
  • improve use of local places and spaces
  • support community sport and encourage people to volunteer
  • attract and deliver world-class sporting events
  • build a strong, inclusive and innovative active industry
  • make the most of the opportunities Brisbane 2032 brings.

How to have your say

We want to hear your bold ideas to help address these challenges and shape the next 10 years of sport in Queensland.

Consultation closes at 11:59pm, Sunday 15 June 2025.

The ‘What does 2032 mean for you?’ discussion paper looks at how the Queensland Government can respond to new trends, make the most of Brisbane 2032, and help more Queenslanders live active, healthy lives.

To get involved in the consultation process, you can:

  • complete the online survey, either as an individual or on behalf of an organisation
  • send a written submission to [email protected]. You can address any topic related to sport in Queensland. The questions in the discussion paper are a guide to start the conversation
  • attend a regional community consultation session near you:
